Laurent Crépeau

Biography

Laurent is a member of DS Lawyers’ Litigation and Arbitration team based in Montreal. He works mostly in the areas of civil commercial and corporate litigation and bankruptcy and insolvency.

Having completed his Bachelor of Civil Law and Juris Doctor at McGill University’s Faculty of Law, Laurent also obtained a Master of Laws in international arbitration from New York University. During law school, Laurent prepared his career in litigation by holding various research assistant positions in the areas of private international law, dispute resolution and corporate law.

He also represented McGill University in an international moot competition and worked as a senior editor for the McGill Law Journal. Laurent was recognized by the Law Journal’s Editorial Board as its best editor upon graduation.

REPRENSENTATIVE WORK

• Represented a foreign company in relation to a dispute arising out of the sale of used equipment without warranties to a technology company;
• Represented shareholders of BlackRock Metals Inc. in the submission of a bid to buy the assets of the company under the auspices of the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act;
• Represented a consulting firm and acted to protect the trade secrets and confidential information communicated to a third party via an application for a provisional injunction.
