About DS Lawyers

DS Avocats is an international law firm with over 400 lawyers in 24 offices. The six (6) Canadian offices of DS Avocats Canada, located in Quebec City, Montreal, Ottawa, Gatineau, Calgary and Vancouver, specialize in business law, taxation and litigation.

The Human Resources Business Partner reports to the Vice-President Operations and is responsible for delivering front line Human Resources services in the areas of recruitment and selection, employee experience, learning and development matters all while maintaining the utmost levels of confidentiality and discretion. This role also contributes significantly to the development of human resources programs, projects, and special initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance to management and employees on human resources areas such as human resources policies and procedures, staffing, and career development.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with all levels of staff.
  • Manage all aspects of recruitment and selection processes from work description, interview guidelines, references, and contract delivery to coordinate the employment offers and onboard.
  • Coordinate the HR activities such as promotions, and employee departures including the associated record keeping and correspondence.
  • Drive talent management initiatives including the development, implementation, and monitoring of the firm’s training initiatives.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate HR programs for compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Review and administer applicable employment law and ensure compliance.
  • Lead, facilitate or participate in other multidisciplinary teams or special projects as assigned and work collaboratively with employees in other sections.
  • Drive and monitor the annual performance management.
  • Conduct employee exit interviews and new employee interviews.
  • Develop and implement creative HR solutions and activities to promote DS as an employer of choice to attract strong talent
  • Spearhead the internship programs through various events such as “Course aux stages”.
  • Coordinate the Rewards and Recognition program.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a University degree in Human Resources or industrial relations.
  • CHRP or CRHA designation is an asset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in French and English both verbally and in writing.
  • At least 5 years related work experience in a variety of Human Resources disciplines.
  • Experience in HR Planning and writing memos to employees.
  • Experience working in a professional service environment (an asset).
  • Experience in leading working groups and/or committees.
